There is nothing quite so boring

as lying in bed feeling rotten and having nothing to do or think about except feeling rotten. I hate being sick! Yes, it was even worse in the past when I was sick and still had to take care of small children - boy, that was awful! So, at least this time I have the luxury of not having to worry about anyone else.
Finally, after hours and hours of boring focus on how lousy I felt, I realized that I might be able to make the best of a bad situation. My old college roommate, Ellen, had raved for years about how wonderful the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice was - but I never was willing to put 6 hours into watching it. It was a perfect diversion for a sick person. It really was wonderful, and kept me distracted from my achy body. Colin Firth is gorgeous enough to distract me even at my worst, and since I knew the plot inside and out, not much concentration was required. Although I'm still bummed that the weekend was basically wasted, at least I got something out of it. And I am starting to feel a bit better.
