and it usually is a fairly dreary process: the Testing Center is in a depressing part of town, no one wants to be there, it's slow, and people are generally annoyed and impatient.
This week, however, my experience reminded me that one person can really make a difference. The guy doing the testing was very cheery and was joking with everyone: "Do you feel lucky today?", "Keep your fingers crossed", "Hooray, you passed!", etc. It was silly and playful and put everyone in a good mood. The guy ahead of me started chatting about his daughter, the woman behind me joked about her car - I have never seen people at emissions testing talk to anyone else, except maybe to grumble. His attitude started the day off well for all of us - and I'm sure that the guy doing the testing likes his job a lot more than most people there.
