Mother's day has always been very special . . .

since X was actually born on Mother's Day, giving me my first and best Mother's Day gift ever!

As usual,I had a lovely day.

It started with our traditional, fancy, kid-made breakfast: chocolate chip pancakes and fresh flowers from the garden. And Zan actually found me "Boogie Till You Puke"! (Thanks to her resourcefulness, Patrick and lj) Why did I think it was by the Ramones or Sex Pistols? Of course it was Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band - how could I forget that?!

X actually called - on the telephone! A bit bizarre (we are more of a IM, e-mail, and lj family) but it was great to hear his voice and we had a nice chat.

After my strenuous Sunday morning work-out (still my favorite, even though Sandra is gone), we spent the afternoon at the cemetery mapping out plans for Zan's Gold Award project. It was hard and frustrating to map, but it felt good to be out there and it was a beautiful day. I finally got to try a Steak N'Shake milkshake afterward. I was exhausted (probably due to being my first lengthy day out in the sun?), so I fell asleep very early while Zan and J were at rapier. Of course that made it hard to fall asleep that night, but it felt very luxurious.

I even got a follow-up surprise the next day: Stephen Colbert's All Americone ice cream! (I thought he was just joking, but it is real!) Now we have to just find Willie Nelson's ice cream (if it exists).

I love my family!
