4 different "events" in one weekend
Apr. 16th, 2007 01:39 pmFirst, since Zan was out of town for Science Olympiad, J and I went out to dinner at P.F. Chang's. We had heard mixed reviews, but had a gift card and decided to use it up. We were pleasantly surprised: I'm not sure what some people seem to dislike about it (maybe more new-age and less authentic than they like?), but we had a very nice meal.
Then we went to Astridr's house for a Stargate Premier. We'd never seen Stargate or Stargate: Atlantis before, but people were very patient with us as we tried to rapidly comprehend ten previous seasons and make sense of it all. It was an added surprise to find that Bob Picardo (an old college friend of Schatzi's) was on Stargate:Atlantis. He looks much older, but I'm sure that that is just because his head is shaved (since he is my age, he is obviously still quite young).
On Saturday, I went to Amelia's wedding shower. I knew absolutely no one there except for Amelia and her mother. This was awkward at first. But, when they started playing Bridal Shower Bingo I got totally into it and was able to be my usual, silly self. After the older woman to the right of me (who was a true Bingo shark) and then I won, I devoted my energies to trying to help the young girl on my left to win. All she needed was for Amelia to get a spatula in order to get Bingo - but to no avail. Why, oh why, didn't Amelia register at Spatula City?!
Then, on Saturday night, we had our gourmet group out in Huron. We started with a tour of the Mulberry Creek Herb Farm (which I'll discuss another time) and then had a lesson in Pinot Noir's. The food was excellent as usual, the wines were all good, and the company was very pleasant. We were surprised to get some snow, but luckily we did not face a blizzard as we returned home.
An unusually social weekend for us!
