There is something ironic about . . .
Nov. 21st, 2005 09:38 pmlistening to lectures on mindfulness (being fully present in the moment) while doing genealogy at the same time. My rationale is that not all moments deserve full presence, and doing two somewhat-boring things at the same time can make each much more pleasant. So I had a lovely time at my psychology convention, sitting at the back of the room with my Diet Coke, laptop plugged in, typing my genealogy, and learning the latest and greatest about cognitive-behavioral therapy. I earned 17 hours of Continuing Education credit (which completes my requirements) and also got 17 hours of genealogy typed in - making a noticeable dent in what I have to enter, but reminding me that I will never, ever get it all done.
Other aspects of the convention were good as well: I got to chat with the people I like, snub the people I don't like (just a few, but those are well worth snubbing), had the total surprise of seeing Bob Noll again (a surprise because he isn't even behavioral so I never would have expected to see him there), had great food and wonderful weather. J was a sweetie and even brought me lunch each day so I could squeeze in maximal CE hours.
Now, on to the final push to get ready for Thanksgiving!
