I feel like a real marshal
Sep. 22nd, 2005 09:02 amOf course, I am a real marshal, but I'm starting to actually feel like one. At last night's SCA meeting, I was marshaling the girls as usual. But then there were some kids hanging around and watching. So I got a chance to invite them to try out a little, safe boffer and explain things to the parent-type with them. I know that my main purpose is to make sure that the kids are all safe, but recruiting new kids and demonstrating is another fun and important part of the role. I guess that being a spokesperson for the group helps me to really feel a part of the group.
It was also great that everyone is getting excited about preparing for the Michaelmas Ball and Dance Collegium this weekend. Here, too, people were recruiting us to help out which makes us feel included and a part of things. Good weather, nice people, it's all good.
