Cape Cod as heaven
Aug. 2nd, 2005 05:51 pmDespite all my worries that J's back injury would ruin our trip to Cape Cod, it all worked out and fits my idea of Heaven:
IMHO, Heaven is . . .
waking up bright and refreshed long before needing to be up, with the sunlight streaming through large picture windows with a gorgeous view of the ocean.
feeling completely free to tromp through cemeteries and genealogy libraries all morning, knowing that the rest of my family is happy doing what they want to do.
spending the afternoons with family, comparing notes on our fun mornings and doing exactly what we feel like, which may just mean a walk along the beach, shopping, or whatever.
good seafood in relaxed settings.
collapsing in the evenings on comfy couches, watching spectacular sunsets from huge picture windows and enjoying a new variety of music from a total stranger's CD collection.
a wonderful 2-person jacuzzi, guaranteed to turn my whole body into jelly.
shopping and actually finding interesting things, including (unheard of!) clothes for S that she loves (and that also look adorable on her)
spending time the weekend before and after Cape Cod with X, enjoying him and Patty being cute.
having S do fun things with her older brother until long past the middle of the night, knowing that he genuinely likes to share his activities with her.
pride that S actually finished her short story by the end of the week and sent her first submission to a publisher, and that J enjoyed his teaching so much that he plans to write a book covering the same material.
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, it was a wonderful trip!
And back to reality:
