It helps to be a bit pushy. . .
Apr. 21st, 2005 09:02 amor at least to have a pushy Mom. Last night was the first SCA meeting after Coronation. These meetings are always fun, since they thank everyone who helped and you get to hear details of all the great things people did. Nial even announced that one of the performers (it must have been Ian) raved about how great the choir sounded - obviously he either has lousy taste or was trying to be extra nice, but it feels good anyway. Noelle and Alaric (the new Queen and King) made a real point of inviting everyone to see and touch the crowns - making it clear that they want to be totally accessible.
Anyway, the King and Queen invited the youth boffer fighters to come forward. Yllaria was the only one to go up at first, until people forced Vedrics to also come forward (other fighters were there, but just didn't bother to go to the meeting). The youth fighters were presented with gorgeous Midrealm tabbards (complete with cool green dragons) to wear while fighting (basically an open tunic which goes over armor to show your loyalties). The second meeting was over, I rushed up to the King and Queen to see if I could get one for Vreile (who couldn't be there because she has a class). Noelle not only said "Of course" but said that she thought there was just one left with a green dragon (the others were just plain white with a red stripe). So, the King and Queen each diligently hunted through the pile until they found the one dragon left at the very bottom. Noelle laughed and said that she knew Yllaria and Vreile would be fighting side by side, so they had to have matching tabbards. So, if I had waited another moment, Vreile may have been left dragon-less.
Cleftlands rocks!
