Breaking into Bork
Mar. 16th, 2005 02:34 pmIt was an eerie feeling. We has gotten lost on the way to the Bork craft night (as always) so we were a few minutes late. We just walked into the house, as usual, since there are always so many people and so much commotion in the small space that no one ever hears one knock. And. No. One. Was. There. It was quiet and empty and we became painfully aware that we were in someone else's house. S thought she heard something - could they be putting their kid to sleep so that we should be quiet? No, it was too early for that. So I called out hesitantly "Hellloooo - Anyone home?" Nothing. Could we have the wrong night? No, there was craft stuff all over the table. We bustled around, setting up our chips and dip, Diet Coke, etc. acting like we belonged there, getting more and more uncomfortable. Finally, there was a knock on the door - Hoping we would know who it was, we let them in and were very relieved that it was Lassarina. Even if we are doing something stupid, it feels much better to be doing it with someone else. Eventually she got a call from Elena saying that we should just let ourselves in (now she tells us). Gradually people arrived and work got done - I don't think I'd make a very good criminal - I feel guilty and uncomfortable even when I haven't done anything!
