The plans for this weekend went back and forth, but everything ended up great, which is what counts.

First of all, my wise daughter (where did I get such great kids?!) pointed out that the whole idea of going to a B & B was to relax - so, I could cancel, but then stood the risk of ending up accomplishing things around the house instead of relaxing. Excellent call - so we decided to let things stay as planned. It was a matter of my expectations again: Since I was still sick, the weekend couldn't meet my high expectations of having this perfect, idyllic vacation, so I was ready to cancel the whole thing.

Friday night was lovely - I was tired from working with no voice, so we were flexible. Instead of driving all the way to the Westside for fancy Caribbean food, J got Thai take-out so we could just relax but still have good food with no work. We collapsed with a silly, romantic movie with the plan of sleeping in on Saturday, then going to the B & B.

We were wakened by a call from our kennel owner, who has never called in his life. He just wanted to let us know that, if we wanted to beat the blizzard, we could drop the dogs off early. We'd known there was a storm predicted, but hadn't taken it too seriously until then. But, when our kennel guy was worried about us, we decided to check more closely. Sure enough, the predictions were dire: the weather radio said that travel might not just be difficult but could be impossible. This cinched it - we were having a lovely weekend anyway, so decided not to risk being trapped in impossible conditions. We canceled the B & B but vowed not to just work all weekend. With this sudden change of plans, but decided to wander through the art museum, hunting for garb ideas. Given the weather, we had the place to ourselves and found lots of inspiration for costumes. We had lunch at a new diner nearby, stopped at JoAnns (we can never resist) and got more yummy take-out for dinner. We worked just a bit on a secret project (which is always great fun), then collapsed with a gorgeous movie [Truly, Madly, Deeply - I recommend it highly for a "date" movie that shouldn't make most men puke]. Considering that we almost never get a chance to watch a movie, seeing 2 movies in one weekend is a real treat. Some brie, wine and a La Stone massage - All in all, we did quite well even without the B & B.

[Ok, so we weren't good and didn't exercise all weekend, but we wouldn't have at the B & B anyway - I actually can't wait to get rid of this rotten cold, so I can start up the exercise again]
